Hypochlorite is the mainstay of the irrigants used in endodontics, ClO-, this is superb at disinfecting root canals. Additional irrigants include EDTA and Chlorhexidine EDTA, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid a polyamino carboxylic acid.
